so i think i've figured out what i'm doing with my life (!!!!!)
are you ready?
ok.
so for the next two years i will go to LDSBC in Salt Lake and get a degree in interior design. being an interior designer used to be one of the things that i wanted to be, but i let it go because i decided on fashion and photography. but, this is kind of my only option right now that seems appealing. and it's only a two year program, so that's good. i love interior design, but not like fashion. i want to be in the fashion industry, not the interior design industry. so that's why i'm not gonna stop there.
after the two years in salt lake (which should be fun since i love cities and it will be close to provo and cali!) i want to try to get an internship in LA or New York. either in interior design or visual communications (window displays, set decorations, etc.). just for that summer.
then i will transfer to fashion school in either LA (FIDM) or NY (FIT/Pratt/Parsons). and do that for two years. maybe more, if i choose to do that....
and that's all i have planned and all i need planned for now! i'm pretty excited about it! i wish i can just go straight to fashion school, but oh well. it'll be nice to have the interior design experience.
in the next couple of weeks i'm going up to new york again and i'm hoping to look at a couple of the fashion schools there that i'm interested in. so that will help me choose between LA and NY.
i'm actually getting super excited for my last months here. next week (Wednesday) my best friend Carly might be coming out to new york with her dad because he has a business trip!! and that weekend is when me and Carrie are planning on going up! so if she ends up going, i'll get to see her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yesssss superr excited!! me and Carrie will see a show (maybe wicked) and hopefully just shop and see some cool places!
THEN for spring break, one of my other best friends, Lesley, is coming to new york toooo!!!! with our friend Annette! they're only staying for a few days so i'm going to take the train up there and stay in their hotel with them!! yayayayayayayyyy!!! :D when Lesley told me, i literally was jumping on my bed i was so excited!
andddd it looks like we still might be going to the outer banxxxxx over spring break also! Carrie is gonna take an extra week off because she's having surgery. she really doesn't need an extra week, but she wants to vacay haha! fine with me!
and i'm not sure what's going on with me going to South Carolina with my other uncle and his fam. probs not gonna go down. whatevs.
and then at some other point before i leave, i'm going to new york again with my friend Emily (she's like 25 and married) and we're gonna go on a huge shopping spree!!! we've vowed not spend money on clothes until then! i'm so excited :)
and i think that's it! sorry, that was actually a lot. but now you know what's going on before it happens! and you can share my excitement :D
xoxo
I can totally relate to being away from California and living in another state! I'm from California myself and moved to Maryland and needless to say, it was VERY different from California and you come to appreciate the Sunshine State, lol! You talked about a strong interest in interior design and also wanting to work in the fashion industry which is great! Looking into FIDM as one of your college choices is a great move to make. I have friends who graduated from FIDM and they really loved the school. They also said that the school's interior design program is AWESOME. I've seen the student work myself on campus and it's amazing what they can come up with! I do know that FIDM also has great connections with the fashion and interior design industries which will help you greatly when it comes to networking and landing awesome internships and jobs. I would definitely consider attending FIDM if you're looking to work in the interior design field. If you haven't already check out FIDM's website and talk with an adviser. My friends had some great advisers who know all about the school and helped them greatly. Good luck!
ReplyDeletethanks for all that advice! i've actually been wanting to go to FIDM since i was in middle school so i know pretty much everything there is to know about it! i've been to multiple open houses, toured the LA and SD campuses, and gone to their events. i even have an advisor who is AWESOME! so yeah, i most likely will choose FIDM over the schools in NY, but still, NY is just soo dreamy haha!
ReplyDeletebut i love to hear about people's experiences at FIDM so thanks for commenting! :)
