Boston, part 3

it snowed during the night and was snowing for most of the morning. but that didn't stop us from exploring some more downtown! but first, we went to the Boston temple. it was really pretty, especially with the snow. carrie wanted me to take pictures of them since the photoshoot didn't go very well. but i only have a point-and-shoot so mine weren't much better.
then we took the T back downtown. {a little thing about the T: there's three lines, the red, blue and orange. the green one is the best. because the track doesn't just go straight. it makes sudden turns and curves and stops. it's so much fun! it reminded me of harry potter, where the bus like swerves through traffic and changes to squeeze through cars and stuff. ya, so cool. ok back to what i was saying before...} this time, we spent all day in the italian district (wow another post about italy...). i loved it there!

loved taking pictures here!

we walked around the whole area, went to Mike's, a super cool and popular italian pastry shop. we got a big box full of yummy, beautiful desserts!

then we ate lunch at Ye Olde Union Oyster House. it's apparently america's oldest resatraunt. it's a really cool place. it's huge and has two stories. and it had a gift shop in it, which always means that it's a good restaraunt. i got clam chowder (again) and the scallops and shrimp with tomato cream sauce over rice. SOOOOO amazing!

how good does that look?!

freshhhh lobsters!
then we headed home because we saw pretty much everything we wanted to and everyone had school and work the next day.

the red line

on the train (goodbye boston!!)

once we got home, it was only 9 and everyone was still awake so we all ate our yuuummmmyyy desserts from mike's. i got a chocolate chip connoli and a red velvet whoopie pie!
i'm craving some more right now!!
Holden actually didn't have school on tuesday, he had a 5 day weekend! and carrie's school ended up being cancelled because of like one inch of snow. pansies! haha but it was fine with me because i got to sleep in and do nothing all day! (pretty much all i ever do)

holy cannoli!

holden's cupcake

you can see the rest of my pictures from boston on my facebook!

Boston, part 2

awesome gravestones!

boston massacre happened right where that traffic light is

the next day we went downtown. parking is impossible in Boston so you have to take the train. they call it the T. it only took about 15 minutes to get where we needed to go. we followed the freedom trail to see all the historical stuff. the old north church, old city hall, graveyards, and the place where the Boston massacre happened. for lunch we went to Durgin Park. Carrie wanted to go there for their beans. i hate beans. i even dared to try some, but nope, still hate them. i just got clam chowder and a salad. the chowder was good though! and for dessert: strawberry shortcake. the best part was their homemade whipped cream! yummm! i was SO FULL!!!! the portions were HUGE. luckily we did a lot of walking over the weekend. hopefully i burned off most of the fat i gained!

holden's dessert...bigger than his head
next, we met up with their friend, Terese, in Cambridge. she was the one taking their pictures. so we did all that. but unfortunately, mackenna was a little stinker and refused to smile. then she refused to even look at the camera. then she just started screaming and crying. i don't know why...she always lets me take pictures of her! i guess it's because she didn't know Terese and because she was freezing. so she made it very difficult for everyone. if you want to see some of the shots, you can check out Terese's blog.
after the shoot, we went to Terese's cute house. they live right next to Harvard. her neighborhood housed Julia Child and E.E. Cummings back in the day. pretty cool! Terese has three kids and a horn-rimmed-ray-ban-wearing husband. they are super cool and HILARIOUS people. i loved spending time talking to them! i usually hate spending time with Steven and Carrie's friends because i barely take part in the conversation and i'm just super bored. but these people were so much fun and young and were interested in what i had to say haha if that makes sense?
Josh, Terese's husband goes to Harvard. he's a scientist. like, a really good scientist apparently. and he had to write a 30 page thesis before Monday so he insisted on staying home with the kids while the rest of us went out to dinner. that's what i call a good husband! haha! so we went out, to the same area where wagamama is. Terese told us what everything was. like all the Harvard buildings and student housing and Harvard hot spots. so cool. (i couldn't stop thinking of The Social Network, have you seen it??) we walked around for a while looking for a good place to eat. we saw a really fancy looking restaurant, then saw people going into the basement. the basement looked cool so we went down there. it was a seat-yourself-pub-like place. and bar. my kind of place! called Grendel's restaurant. the picture was of a hobbit looking dude. i wish i got a picture of it. the place was super crowded. we ended up sitting in the back behind a wall. haha sweet. the food was delicious though! we had fun talking, with no kids to constantly attend to. wow, i sound like a mom....

deeeelicious mashed potatoes, steak with chimicurry sauce and yummy salad with yummy dressing!

finale desserts

on our way back to the car, we stopped at Finale. a fancy restaurant that also had a pastry shop in the front. like cheesecake factory, but fancier. we bought a chocolate cake and a few small pastries/tarts. got it to go and brought it back to Terese's.
when we came into the house we saw this:

holden and presley fell asleep while watching scooby doo under the awesome tent josh made for them

and josh sitting on the couch with his laptop. he had already finished like 20 pages! he really is a genius! we ate dessert, drank milk. and talked some more. i could tell you about all the funny conversations we had, but i don't want to bore you any more than i probably already have. just know that it was such a fun night and i laughed A LOT!

boston, part one

so, i have fallen in love with boston. it's on my list of places i want to live. it's such an awesome place! and it's cleeeaann! and i only saw like two homeless people! sounds good so far huh? even though it was freeezing and windy, i still had a good time exploring the city. and it didn't stop me from taking pictures! Carrie on the other hand was not super psyched about the weather. that always makes things fun...
and anyway, I'M the one who should've been in a bad mood. i lost my phone Saturday morning :(( worst moment of my life. we were just leaving Bristol to go to Boston. we stopped by the post office. and then....my phone just disappeared. it was nowhere to be found. i must've dropped it out the post office. we even went back, but it wasn't there. so someone must have stolen it :(( we spent a long time searching for it. called the post office and everything. but it was gone. but i have a real excuse to get an iphone now!!! yayayayaaa
but i mourned all weekend, but i didn't let it affect my mood too much. although there's still moments where i reach for my phone, but it's not there. and then i cry a little inside.
ok back to Boston...
it took 5 hours to drive there -___- actually more than that cuz we had to stop twice. and mackenna was horrible all weekend. just whining and crying nonstop. but again, i didn't let that affect my mood either.

when we finally got there, we just hung out in the pretty small hotel room and tried to put together outfits for their photoshoot on Sunday. Carrie wanted my help, but she didn't like anything i suggested. we have different styles. and she didn't want them to match, but they were totally matching. so i just stopped trying to help because it was useless. oh well, they're not my pictures! later Holden went swimming in the indoor pool. then we drove to Cambridge to eat dinner at Wagamama, a really cool and really yummy japanese restaurant. Cambridge is where Harvard is. so it's an AWESOME college town. it's so lively, even late at night. the houses are soo cute and there's really cool boutiques and restaurants. students were everywhere. also a lot of asians! hahaha of course. and there were a group of kids sitting next to us at wagamama and i'm pretty sure they were harvard students. but the one kid closest to us was literally like 13. grrreatt. so out of my league around here haha!

Bowston

i like the looks of this place...

we're off to Boston! yayy!!
this should be fun
they seem to think its gonna take 5 hours to get there....but i'm pretty sure it's only supposed to take 3 1/2-4 hours. so we'll see. but still, long car rides are NEVER fun. they just mean HEADACHE, sore knee, cramped in the back seat, screaming/whining kids, and then car sickness. YES! i can't wait. -___-
but boston really should be fun. hopefully. i don't really know what's in boston, so it will be cool to have no expectations and just have fun seeing it for the first time.
we're staying in a hotel so i'm bringing my computer, but probably won't be on it much. we'll see.
unfortunately, now that it's warm here in philly, we have to leave and go to the cold and possible snow :(
oh well, i'm still wearing my boyfriend cords rolled up tomorrow!
happy president's day weekend!!
