carpe diem

"We realized that life is to be lived, .... and that we should seize the day. "

as my brother was trying to convince me NOT to go to italy, i was reading this (read this blog, really, it's hilarious). this is a family who is on a journey around the world. taking pictures. that is my DREAM. and you've gotta start somewhere, right? yes, it is a lot of money. yes, i may be a little short of money afterwards, but there will always be more money in the world, right? yes, it will be a little weird staying at my friend's (who is a guy) house for two weeks. but after i go, i don't think i will regret it. that's usually what i ask myself when i'm trying to make a decision. will i regret it?
there may be moments that i won't enjoy very much while i'm there, but then i'll remember that I'M IN FREAKING ITALY!!! and i'll get over it. nothing horrible will happen. (well, nothing that is somewhat in my control, at least) i'm just gonna do it. i'm gonna see the world! just a little part of it, but a beautiful part. and i'm not gonna have any regrets. so i'm saying yes and not changing my mind again.

pictures by trey ratcliff, one of my very favorite photographers. has been for years

p.s. sorry about all the obsessive posts about italy lately!
