Be-tee-dubs....

I finished The Book of Lost Things this morning! It was such a good book. I don't think it's everyone's cup of tea, but I think its definitely worth a try! It was an easy read and a fun adventure. It was a bit dark and gruesome and disturbing at parts, but I think there's still something to learn from it all. And although the last chapter was kinda lame, the last page made it okay.
I liked how the author put a dark twist on old fairy tales and there were some very surprising and unexpected moments which made me like the book so much.
Anyway, here's the little synopsis from the book cover...

"High in his attic bedroom, twelve-year-old David mourns the death of his mother, with only the books on his shelf for company. But those books have begun to whisper to him in the darkness. Angry and alone, he takes refuge in his imagination and soon finds that reality and fantasy have begun to meld. While his family falls apart around him, David is violently propelled into a world that is a strange reflection of his own -- populated by heroes and monsters and ruled by a faded king who keeps his secrets in a mysterious book, The Book of Lost Things.Taking readers on a vivid journey through the loss of innocence into adulthood and beyond, New York Times bestselling author John Connolly tells a dark and compelling tale that reminds us of the enduring power of stories in our lives."

Hope you're all having a good weekend! Xoxo

Thoughts

I came to a realization the other day and its been quite troubling. So, I'm going into interior design for the next two years of my life (when my true passion and love is fashion) and I really know nothing about it! Well, I do, but not like fashion. I know EVERYTHING about fashion. I know about the history of it, designers who changed the fashion world, and designers today who are changing the fashion world too. I know how to find trends and how to style. But I barely know the last thing about interior design! If you asked me to name a famous interior designer, I would have no clue. Except for maybe some I see on tv. Like I said in a previous post, I want to be in the world of FASHION, not the world of interior design.
But, its what I have to do for now and I will put all of my efforts into it, knowing that in two years ill finally be going into fashion. I just wish I could be doing what I love right now...

Adventures in the graveyard!!

Yesterday was really weird. It started POURING about 20 minutes before we had to go get holden, but it only lasted like 3 minutes!! And when we went outside it was HUMID as heck. I know thats how the east coast is, but I haven't experienced that in a long time so it was just weird to me!
After we got holden, we went over to the graveyard and explored :) I showed them the beaver's hole in the ground where I saw him hiding at times yesterday. We walked around to try to see him. Instead, we found more holes! They were on the sides of tombstones....and led right under them...which means.....well yeah, a little creepy.
The graveyard looked different today. Maybe it's because it had just rained, or maybe that I hadn't gone in there for a long time, but it just seemed different. But it also seems like it's always changing. It's never the same when we go in there. I don't know...its weird, and kinda cool :)
we pretended we were on an adventure in the rainforest. There was a bird that sounded like a monkey. Moss grew everywhere and the air was thick with moisture. And then....mackenna had to pee. I tried to persuade her to pee by the tree we were hiding under, but she wouldn't do it. So we had to cut our adventure short and go home. We will continue our hunt for the wild beaver some other day :)

Warm weather

Monday, holden didn't have school but Carrie did so we were free to do whatever we wanted. Well, not exactly, but you know. We planned on walking to the duck pond but the kids decided to be LAZY and to stay in their pjs and watch movies all day. So I told them I'd be in the backyard and they couldn't come out until they got dressed. Eventually they came out but were wearing JEANS AND LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS!! it felt like 90 degrees that day! They crazy. Obviously they didn't stay outside long because of their poor fashion choices. But I continued to read my book, listen to music, and work on my tan :)
Yesterday me and mackenna played outside all day. Well, first we watched a movie, THEN spent all day outside :) we stopped by the bank first on the way to the river, then fed geese some old bread. We walked along the river and went to the little beach. It was really quiet because all of the kids were back in school. It was a bit more cloudy and windy than Monday, but still really warm. I took a bunch of pictures and mackenna threw rocks into the water.
Oh! and also while I stayed home during holdens baseball game that everyone went to in the afternoon, I sat on the porch and read my book. I looked over at the graveyard for a moment saw something run between the headstones! A little animal that I assumed was a cat. But when I looked again....it was a BEAVER!!!! Or at least I think it was a beaver....anyway, I watched that thing for at least 20 minutes as it roamed around looking for things to eat and as it stopped to listen to its surroundings. And it would sprint like crazy when it thought something was approaching. Then....it STOOD UP ON ITS HIND LEGS and looked around, then continued on with its scavenger hunt for food. CUTEST THING EVER!!!!!!! I can't wait to see that little guy again and to hopefully get picture of him!! :)
Unfortunately all of the pictures I take on my camera in the near future won't be shared for a while since my computer doesn't work! Boo. So its phone pictures or nada!
Here are some from yesterday, at the beach on the river :)

The Book of Lost Things

"Seek others who are weaker than you are, and try to give them comfort where you can. Let these be your routines, and the rules that govern your life"
-the woodsman, the book of lost things

I started reading this book yesterday because I needed something to read while I sat outside in the sun (the weather has been AMAZING here!!).  So far, I really really enjoy this book by John Connolly. It looked appealing and turned out to be nothing like I expected, but it's really good!! It puts a new and creepy twist on all the fairy tales you've always known. I can't put it down and I definitely recommend it, even though I haven't finished it yet. :)

Happy day!

Spring break

Yes, I am back from New York and I miss it and my friends so much! Luckily, in two and a half weeks, I'll be with my friends again. But that also means I won't live so close to NY anymore! :( I think that's what I'll miss the most.
But anyway, here are some pictures from the last couple of days here. The weather has been weird. Today was supposed to storm all day but it changed its mind around 12 and the sun came out and it was warm!
The other day we went to the Crayola crayon factory! It was crazy to say the least...but the drive there and the town it was in was so pretty!! When we came home, we played outside and rode bikes!
Yesterday I babysat while Carrie had a doctor appointment and got krispy kreme donuts to bring home! Then holden and mackenna got all dressed up to go get portraits taken. Then we did a little shopping at the mall and got Rita's! My favorite thing in the world!
So it's been an eventful couple of days. And holden has been pretty nice to me lately so that's cool. and mackenna's evil streak has stopped a bit too. Sweet!
Back to the normal routine on Monday finally!!
Happy Easters!!!!! :D (holden is super excited for the Easter bunny to come haha :)

p.s. the pictures are all mixed up below. Urgh so annoying...

Yesterday we planted veggies and herbs in the backyard! I took pictures of it with my new friend, Holga :) I'll put them up here eventually.

The unlucky one

Has anyone else noticed that I have had ridiculously horrible luck ever since I moved out here??
If not, let me give you some examples.
First, the SD card port on my phone broke somehow (mackenna) so I had to tape it in order to keep my card in. Ghetto phone, I know.
My ipod stopped holding a charge. Thanks to the bad outlets in this old house. I fear for my pods life whenever I use it. I don't want to lose all my music AGAIN.
Then my camera broke (mackenna). Still usable but the lens was all jacked up. So then I buy a new camera on black Friday. But, huzzah! My old camera fixed itself! I kept the new camera anyway though...
THEN I lose my phone. Actually it really just disappeared. Into limbo. Never to be seen again. Lost all my contacts, pictures, etc. Super. Had to buy a new phone.
And now...my computer is about to crash. It won't let me back up my stuff onto CDs, the internet is infected, so won't open, itunes won't open..goodbye music, but hopefully, HOPEFULLY I can get more flash drives/an external hard drive before the imminent crash. Crossing my fingers.
So yeah, I would say I've been extremely unlucky. Plus I could've saved a buttload of money this year if everything didn't keep breaking or whatnot. Mehhh :/ so very unfortunate.

Lita's

Alright so I guess some people are getting a little sick of seeing Lita's on every girl's feet. But I still LOVE them and melt a little whenever I see them. I want a pair SO BAD.

The top pic is the fall/winter line. It wouldn't let me upload the pretty pastels of the spring line...
